Cupping

Myofascial Cupping is a modified version of soft tissue massage which is common among traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and now remedial therapists.

Many people respond well to the effects of the cupping and return for continuous treatment to help alleviate pain, muscular and connective tissue restrictions and other associated symptoms.
The theory behind Myofascial Cupping is based around the effects of suction and negative pressure and its influence on releasing trigger points and myofascial tissues allowing better movement and re-correcting postural imbalances.

Myofascial Cupping assists with the relief of symptoms by the following:

  1. Relieves pain
  2. Releases tight muscles and other connective tissues
  3. Removes excess fluids and toxins away from the body
  4. Increases circulation to the local area to aid healing.

You may experience some light redness on the body after treatment. The suction of the cup will determine how strong this redness can be. It is not a bruise from broken capillaries but blood being directed under the surface of the skin. This flushing allows for better circulation to otherwise stagnant tissues and promotes healing. Please talk to your practitioner about any concerns you may have during treatment.
